Recovery codes are one-time backup codes you can use to sign in when your authenticator app is unavailable.
How to use a recovery code
- Go to the login page.
- Enter your email and password.
- When asked for a two-factor code, choose Use a Recovery Code.
- Type one of your saved codes.
- You are signed in, and that code is now used.
Keep codes safe
Each code can only be used once. Store them somewhere private, like a password manager. Do not screenshot them and store them on your phone.
Regenerating codes
If you run out of codes or suspect they leaked, go to Account > Security and choose Regenerate Recovery Codes. This invalidates the old set.
